It is unfortunate that the PBS NewsHour has joined the crowd in
promoting pseudo-education. The entire transcript is at:

http://www.pbs.org/newshour/bb/education/jan-june11/technology_04-08.html
===================

STUDENT: I think we learned -- I think I'm learning a lot more in
fourth grade, because, if we have to have a question, it's easier to
get it from the computer than the dictionary.

JOHN TULENKO: In this district, almost everything's online, from
classwork to homework. And tests are graded by computer.

KRISTIN FAUCHER: Four years ago, if they took an assessment, you know,
I would have to sit up at night and grade every paper. And, you know,
it might be two or three days. And now it is immediate feedback. And
I'm able to adapt my teaching and constantly change what I'm doing.

Hmm.. isn't there something odd about complaining about doing stuff with
computers & online on an online forum?

Everything is going that way - I wouldn't be surprised if a few years
from now students will be studying and testing via cell phones and
tablets...

Technology is wonderful when used intelligently, but it is a disaster
when used to pseudo-educate students.

You could (and probably have in the past) say the same thing about books...

My believe is that we should have a Flu vaccination.
It is very very important.
